Hofstra jumped on the board first with a goal in the 21st minute. Lucy Porter sent Sabrina Bryan free into the side of the 18-yard-box. Bryan placed her shot inside the left post in gave the Pride an early lead.

With the Tribe pushing forward, the Tribe got a break with an own goal in the 39th minute. A Hofstra defender tried to clear a W&M shot attempt but the back-spin on the ball caused a miss hit and it ended up in the back of the Pride goal to level the score.
