Late Goals Push Hofstra Past Men's Soccer

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Hofstra scored twice in the final 10 minutes to down William & Mary men's soccer, 3-1, on Saturday night at Martin Family Stadium.

Trailing, 1-0, at the half, the Tribe (4-7-2, 2-2-1 CAA) knotted the game in the 58th minute thanks to senior Julian Ngoh's third goal of the season. Freshmen Marcos Villeda and Nathan Messer combined in the midfield with Messer's touch springing Ngoh, who was making a run into the box. The senior striker finished inside the right post from 12 yards out.

The Green and Gold missed a trio of chances over the next 10 minutes to take the lead. In the 60th minute, freshman Alfredo Bozalongo's 22-yard free kick from the right side was pushed over the goal by Hofstra goalkeeper Alex Ashton. On the ensuing corner kick, Ashton smothered Ngoh's header that tried to sneak inside the near post from six yards out. Seven minutes later, freshman Diba Nwegbo laid the ball off to Messer in the penalty area, but his shot went high of the frame from 12 yards out.

Hofstra (6-6-1, 3-2-1 CAA) retook the lead for good in the 80th minute. Lennart Seufert sent in a cross from the right wing that rang off the left post. It fell to the foot of Jesse Schleeper who scored from eight yards out into the upper right corner of the frame. Five minutes later, Petter Soellberg put the game away, collecting a failed clearance off of a Storm Strongin cross and scored into the left side of the goal from 12 yards out on the right side.

In the opening half of play, the Pride took the lead with a goal in the 21st minute. Stefan Mason gathered a clearance off his long throw and gained spaced to the end line. He sent a bending cross to the backside of the six and George Malley's scored on a diving header.
