WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – William & Mary men's soccer erupted for four second-half goals on the way to a dominating 5-1 victory over Delaware in the regular-season home finale on Tuesday night at Martin Family-Stadium. Senior
Julian Ngoh tallied a brace in the final 45 minutes, while freshman
Alfredo Bozalongo recorded the Colonial Athletic Association's first three-assist match of the year.
Tied 1-1 at the halftime, W&M (5-7-2, 3-2-1 CAA) broke the game open with two goals 40 seconds apart. Senior
Tanner Shane gave the Tribe the lead for good, 2-1, less than 10 minutes into the second half as he headed home an
Alfredo Bozalongo corner kick inside the near post from six yards out. Less than a minute later, it was again Bozalongo serving in a free kick this time, and sophomore
John Eberle roofed it from six yards out to push the margin to 3-1 in the 55th minute.
Ngoh scored twice from 15 yards out in a three-minute span to put the game away. He scored into right side for W&M's fourth marker of the night in the 72nd minute off a pass from senior
Cole Smith. In the 75th minute, Bozalongo chipped it over the top to Ngoh, who touched back to his left foot and scored over the top of the rushing UD goalkeeper into the center of the frame.
After W&M nearly got on the board five minutes in on a Ngoh shot that hit the right post, freshman
Diba Nwegbo gave W&M the 1-0 lead in the 12th minute. Sophomore
Zachary Hosseinian served the ball in from the right wing, and Nwegbo beat the goalkeeper to the ball with a diving header attempt. The ball rolled the same direction as the freshman striker, and he back-heeled it inside the right post laying on the turf from six yards out.
On its first corner kick of the night, Delaware (2-7-3, 1-3-2 CAA) equalized. David Vavrous collected a deflected ball along the right endline and backheeled a pass to Timmo Hummrich, who one-timed a shot into the center netting from six yards out.
