Jack Doherty Earns CAA Swimmer of the Week Honors

William & Mary senior Jack Doherty (Middletown, Conn.) was named the Colonial Athletic Association's Men's Swimmer of the Week on Tuesday, following another record-breaking weekend for the Tribe.  This is the second award in as many weeks for W&M, and the first of Doherty's career.

Swimming against a perennially tough East Carolina squad, Doherty broke his own dual-meet record in the 100 fly by taking second in 49.12 seconds.  That beat the mark he set just last week by 0.01, and the previous record coming into the season in the event by a full half-second (49.62).  So far in 2019-20, Doherty ranks 32nd in Division I in the 100 fly, and leads the CAA by more than a second.  On Saturday, he also swam on the Tribe's top relays that finished second in both the 200 medley and the 400 free relay, the latter with a conference-leading time of 3:03.23.

Doherty and his teammates have this weekend off for William & Mary's Homecoming Celebration, but return to the pool on Saturday, Oct. 26, with a dual-meet on the road at CAA-rival Towson.  That meet will begin at 1 p.m. in Towson, Md.
