Women's Soccer Suffers Sunday Setback at Northeastern

BOSTON, Mass. – Northeastern scored two unanswered goals to pick up a 2-1 victory on Sunday against the William & Mary women's soccer team in Boston.

W&M (3-10-2, 1-4-1 CAA) jumped out to an early lead with a goal in the 11th minute marker. Junior Colleen Norton cleared some space and uncorked a shot that was deflected. Luckily for the Tribe, senior Charlotte Hyland was at the penalty area and her sliding shot ended up in the back right of the net.

Northeastern (5-9-1, 2-3-1 CAA) found the equalizer right before halftime. Jane Kaull sent Nina Dooley free into the left side of the box where she lofted the ball over the head of senior Katelyn Briguglio and raced it down, before shooting into the empty net.

The Huskies took the lead in the 68th minute. This time Dooley started the play as she sent a cross into the left side of the 18-yard-box that found the head of Olivia Ware. Ware flicked her chance into the net to push NU to a 2-1 advantage.

Quotable
"Today was another great conference battle. We played great for stretches and made some unfortunate mistakes that they capitalized on. Their goalkeeper made a great save on what would have been the tying goal later in the second half. We pressured them until the end, but couldn't get the equalizer. - Head Coach Julie Shackford

What's Ahead
W&M plays its final road game of the regular season next weekend when it travels to Philadelphia. The Tribe squares off with Drexel on Saturday, Oct. 19. Kickoff between the Tribe and Dragons is set for Noon.
