WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The William & Mary women's soccer team rallied for a pair of goals in the final five minutes, including the game-winner in the 90th minute, to pick up a thrilling 2-1 victory over in-state foe Liberty on Sunday afternoon at Albert-Daly Field. With the win, the Tribe improves to 2-3, while the Flames drop to 1-4.
After the Tribe controlled a majority of the possession in the second half, W&M was able to get on the board in the 85th minute. Sophomore
Colleen Norton made a great individual effort to clear space, and rocketed a shot into the left-upper 90 from 30-yards out to level the score at 1-1.
With just 13 seconds left in regulation, sophomore
Alex Kuhnle found the game-winner. The sophomore drove left side of the penalty area and worked her way to the end line. From there, Kuhnle bent a shot inside of the right post to lift the Tribe to a 2-1 win.
Liberty jumped on the board first with a goal in the eighth minute. Off of a corner kick, the Flames played it back to Hadley Jones, who lofted a pass into the box right in front of the goal. Devon Sipala was able to get her head to the pass and deflect her shot into the right side of the goal.
