The No. 22-ranked William & Mary field hockey team made several threatening charges over the course of the second half, but was unable to get past No. 3 Duke, falling 4-0 on the road in the season opener for both teams.
How it Happened
- Duke got on the board first with two goals in the first half, the first on a corner and the second on an attack down the right side.
- The Blue Devils added two more in the second half, first on an attack down the left, and then the final goal in a confused scrum following a penalty corner.
- W&M was able to muster several attacks in both halves, but especially in the second, with several attempts sliding just wide of the goal.
- Junior goalkeeper
Morgan Connor (Bedford, N.Y.) was credited with seven saves.
