Baseball Blanked in Weekend Opener at No. 5 NC State

Raleigh, N.C. – The William & Mary baseball team was blanked by No. 5 North Carolina State, 5-0, on Friday evening at Doak Field. The Tribe (15-30) allowed two home runs as the Wolfpack (32-12) claimed the series opener.
 
The Green and Gold faced just a three-run deficit after six innings, but NC State tacked on a pair of insurance runs in the eighth. Patrick Bailey led off the frame with a solo shot to right field. A RBI single from Terrell Tatum push acrosed the next run, before W&M turned a 4-6-3 double play.
 
Tribe Standouts
Junior Jason Waldman and rookie Matt McDermott both finished 2-for-4 at the dish. Sophomore Brandon Raquet doubled for his third extra base hit in as many games. Sophomore Jamie Sara fanned four batters in two innings of work.
 
Inside the Numbers
- Both teams managed just one hit with two outs.
- NC State produced the only hit of the game with runners in scoring position.
- The Wolfpack's pitch hitters went 2-for-3 at the plate.
- Reid Johnston (7-0) pick up the win after hurling 5.2 innings with five strikeouts and just four hits.
- Junior Bodie Sheehan (2-7) was dealt the loss as he yielded three runs (all earned) on seven hits across 5.1 innings. 
 
Notes
Fletcher hit the century mark in appearances as the program's all-time leader…Hall moved the fourth in Tribe history with 210 career starts…McDermott tallied his ninth multi-hit game.
