TOWSON, Md. – The William & Mary women's basketball team used a 13-0 run late in the first quarter and never looked back as it topped Towson 75-63 on Super Bowl Sunday in Maryland. With the win, the Tribe improves to 15-7, 6-5 in Colonial Athletic Association play, while the Tigers drop to 8-14, 3-8 in league action.
Towson opened the game on a 7-0 run to build the lead by the same score. Mary Cuevas opened the scoring with a lay-up, before Raine Bankston added a jumper, and Danielle Durjan canned a triple to give the Tigers the cushion just four minutes in.
Down 12-5, W&M responded with 13-0 run to take the lead. Junior
Bianca Boggs spurred the rally with seven straight points to tie the score. Sophomore
Nari Garner put the Tribe ahead for a good with a triple at the 1:57 mark of the opening quarter, before Boggs added three more points to make it 18-12 with 27 seconds left in the opening stanza.
Leading by five, the Tribe used a 5-0 run to build its lead into double-figures. Freshman
Nyla Pollard started the run with a traditional 3-point play, before senior
Jenna Green added a lay-up. The Tigers cut it to four with 1:40 left in the first half, but W&M scored the final six points of the half to take a 41-31 lead into the locker room.
Towson was only able to cut the W&M lead to six points in the first minute of the first quarter, but W&M scored nine of next 11 points to secure its lead back to double-digits and thwart any idea of a comeback.

Senior
Jenna Green scored a game and career-high 22 points to pace three Tribe players in double-figures. She added seven assists, two rebounds, one block and one steal. Junior
Bianca Boggs was just off the pace as she finished with 21 points, eight rebounds, two steals, and four helpers. Sophomore
Nari Garner was in double-figures as she connected on four 3-pointers for 12 points. Classmate
Victoria Reynolds just missed double-figures with nine points, five rebounds, two blocks, and three steals.
Nukiya Mayo paced three Tigers in double-figures with a double-double of 19 points and 12 rebounds. She added an assist, a block, and four steals. Raine Bankston finished with 14 points, five assists, and four steals, while Etalyia Vogt had 11 points, six rebounds, two assists, and three steals.
Inside the Numbers
- W&M shot 46.6-percent (27-of-58) from the floor in the game. The Tribe improved 8-1 when shooting better than 45-percent this season.
- The Tribe also shot 47-percent (8-for-17) from 3-point land in the game, including four 3-pointers from sophomore
