WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Rookie
Lauren Merrill posted her third double-double as the William & Mary volleyball team fell to the College of Charleston, 3-0 (25-15, 25-10, 25-18), on Friday evening. Merrill collected 10 kills and 10 digs to highlight the Tribe's (5-19, 1-14) penultimate match of the season against the Cougars (19-10, 10-5).
Trailing by two sets, Merrill blasted five kills in the third period to give W&M its best chance of prolonging the contest. Two kills apiece from Merrill and freshman
Claire Farrell narrowed the Cougars' margin to 5-4 in the early stages of set three. CofC grabbed a seven-point advantage, before Merrill capped a 3-0 spurt with a hammer to trim the deficit to 19-15. Regardless, Charleston completed the sweep behind a 6-3 run.

Lauren Moussaid also reached double-digit digs with a team-high 15.

Katie Kemp tallied a team-high 22 assists for the Tribe.
- Farrell made the most of her eight attempts with four kills (.375 attack percentage).
- Devon Rachel (14 kills) and Lauren Freed (11 kills) of Charleston both recorded 10-plus kills.
- Allison Beckman distributed 44 of the Cougars' 47 assists.
- CofC scored 19 of its 25 points via kills in the third set.
- The Cougars finished the match with a .333 hitting percentage.
