WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The William & Mary women's basketball team knocked down 11 3-pointers to blow past Howard, 88-75, on Monday night at Kaplan Arena. The Tribe (1-1) had four players score in double-figures for its first win of the season over the Bison (2-1).
At the start of the first quarter, the Tribe erased a four-point deficit to take an 8-7 advantage. Senior
Bianca Boggs converted a traditional three-point play, before sophomore
Nyla Pollard knocked down a close-range jumper to put W&M ahead. With 2:15 left in the frame, redshirt sophomore
Harper Birdsong canned a 3-pointer to push the Tribe up 16-9. The Bison cut it to a two-point affair, before Boggs scored the last four Tribe points to end the quarter with a 22-18 margin.
Halfway through the second quarter, freshman
Emma Krause scored eight straight points to force a Howard timeout. Krause buried a triple from the left side, before making a transition layup. At the 4:58 mark, Krause swished another 3-pointer to give the Tribe a 37-28 lead. After Howard leveled the score, senior
Misha Jones scored seven-straight points to send the Tribe to the lockerroom with a seven-point lead. Jones completed a four-point play, before knocking down a triple as the first half horn sounded.

The Bison managed to the cut the deficit to five points late in the fourth quarter. However, back-to-back triples from Krause made it 77-69 with 3:40 to go. W&M went on to score eight-consecutive points to put the game away.
