WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Fresh off an emotional Friday victory, the William & Mary volleyball team struggled to summon that same level of intensity in a 3-0 (25-10, 25-22, 25-17) setback against CAA foe Towson on Saturday evening. The Tigers (8-11, 3-3 CAA) finished with a .352 hitting efficiency to down the Tribe (5-9, 1-4 CAA).
After dropping the first set, the Green and Gold opened the second period with a 9-5 advantage following a kill from freshman
Anne Louise Seekford. However, the Tigers immediately responded with a 7-1 run to grab a 12-10 advantage. The lead was exchanged a few more times as sophomore
Julia Brown nailed a kill for a 21-19 Tribe lead. TU then scored three unanswered points and held on to secure the frame.
The third set was also close at the mid-point as junior
Autumn Brenner found freshman
Madeleine Bertz in the middle to cut TU's lead to 15-14. Nonetheless, the Towson defense yielded just three more points in closing out the match.
