WILMINGTON, N.C. – Sophomore
Julia Brown registered a .300-plus hitting percentage for the second consecutive match as the William & Mary volleyball team fell to UNCW, 3-0 (25-20, 25-13, 25-22), on the road Tuesday evening. Brown blasted 10 kills in 21 swings with just two errors (.381 attack efficiency) to lead the Tribe (5-12, 1-7 CAA) against the Seahawks (11-6, 4-3 CAA).
The Seahawks started the opening set with a 5-0 run to take a four-point advantage, 7-3. W&M then responded with four unanswered points to level the score at 8-all. The frame remained even until UNCW gained separation courtesy of a 9-1 spark for a 21-15 lead. The Green and Gold put together another run of four straight points, but it wouldn't be enough to overcome the deficit.

Claire Farrell highlighted a 3-0 spurt with back-to-back kills. However, the Seahawks managed to pull away again at the mid-point. Down by two points, Maddy Kline floored three kills and Brynn Montgomery served three aces to help UNCW grab a 18-12 margin and gradually the frame.
Brown stepped her game up with five kills in the third set. She trimmed UNCW's lead to three-points, 14-11, after landing a kill. She hammered another down the stretch as the Seahawks were one point away from completing a sweep, 24-21. However, UNCW scored the match-winner out of a timeout to cut the comeback effort short.
