HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – The William & Mary women's basketball team dropped a 65-54 decision at Hofstra on Friday morning in Hempstead, N.Y. With the result, the Tribe drops to 12-5, 3-3 in league action, while the Pride improves to 10-8, 4-3 in Colonial Athletic Association play.
Hofstra built its lead to seven points with a 10-3 run to take the lead by the same score out of the gates. Alena Leon opened the scoring before Boogie Brozoski made it 4-0 Pride to open the first quarter. After a freshman
Nyla Pollard triple, Marianne Kalin sandwiched a pair of lay-ups around a Leon lay-up to end the run.
Trailing 14-8, W&M used a 7-0 lead to gain its first lead of the contest. Senior

Bianca Boggs gave the Tribe a 15-14 lead with a lay-up late in the opening stanza.
The Pride again built its lead back to seven with a 10-2 run to open the second quarter. Ashune Durant regained the lead for the Pride with a lay-up, before Brozoski added a pair from the line. After a sophomore
Victoria Reynolds' lay-up, Brozoski canned back-to-back triples to make it 26-19 with 3:43 left in the half.
After W&M cut the Pride lead to four, Hofstra responded with a 9-1 run to build its largest lead of the game. Leon opened the run with a triple, but Rendle responded with a lay-up. The run restarted as Durant sandwiched a pair of lay-ups around an Olivia Askin 3-pointer to make it 44-31 with 5:05 left in the third quarter.

Bianca Boggs and sophomore
Victoria Reynolds paced the Tribe with 15 points apiece, and were the only two W&M players in double-figures. Reynolds added seven rebounds, and assist, and a steal, while Boggs chipped in four boards, three assists, and three steals. Senior
Jenna Green just missed double-figures with nine points, four rebounds, and three assists, while freshman
Nyla Pollard scored eight points, and grabbed four rebounds.
Aleana Leon led four Hofstra players in double-figures with a game-high 19 points, eight rebounds, and four assists. Ashunae Durant recorded a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds, while Boogie Brozoski had 12 points, six rebounds and six assists. Marianne Kalin rounded out the double-figurer scorers with 11 points, eight rebounds and two assists.
Inside the Numbers
- W&M shot 42.6-percent (23-for-54) from the floor in the contest. However, after hitting its first three triples, the Tribe only connected on one more the rest of the game.
- Hofstra won the rebounding battle, 39-32.
- The Tribe had just 11 assists in the contest, while they had 18 miscues. W&M also had four blocks, and seven steals.
