PHILADELPHIA, Pa. –The William & Mary women's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision at Drexel on Sunday afternoon. With the setback, the Tribe falls to 4-7-0, 0-2-0 in Colonial Athletic Association play, while the Dragons improve to 6-4-1, 1-0-1 in league action.
After a scoreless first period, Drexel jumped on the board with a goal in the first two minutes of the second half. Shaelyn McCarty headed the ball into the box where she found the head Raenah Campbell, who flicked it into the top of the net.
W&M had numerous chances at the equalizer. The first came moments after the goal when senior
Rachel Moore got on the other end of a classmate
Sami Grasso corner kick, but Drexel's Christiana Ogunsami made the save. Arguably the best chance of the match came on a nice run from freshman
Alex Kuhnle. Kuhnle took the ball down the left side of the pitch from midfield, and fired lower right, but Ogunsami made the diving stop.
The Dragons added an insurance goal with less than five minutes to play. Against the run of play, Vanessa Kara made a long run and beat two Tribe defenders before, placing her shot into the bottom right corner of the net. Her fourth goal of the season made the final score 2-0.
