Virginia Tech's Late Goal Enough to Top Women's Soccer

BLACKSBURG, Va. – Virginia Tech's Kallie Peurifoy scored in the 85th minute to lift the Hokies to a 1-0 victory over the William & Mary women's soccer team in Blacksburg on Thursday night. With the decision, the Tribe falls to 4-1-0, while VT improves to 4-0-1.

Following a W&M foul, the Hokies were awarded a free kick and Peurifoy fired the chance into the top left corner of the goal. The late tally was enough for Virginia Tech to pick up the win.

W&M's best chance came in the first half. Senior Rachel Moore collected the ball and charged towards the box, putting her chance on target. However, Mandy McGlynn was there to make her only stop of the night.

Despite the decision, sophomore Katelyn Briguglio made some clutch saves to keep the Tribe in the match. Her six saves on the evening were a season-high.

W&M Starters: Briguglio (GK), Grasso, Dailey, Branton, Moore, Kober, Kelly, Kent, Robbins, Hyland, Keith

VT Starters: McGlynn (GK), Thompson, Johnston, Timothy, Mance, Johnson, Hemmen, Conyers, Diana, Peurifoy, Abu El Hawa
