WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Former William & Mary women's basketball star
Alexandra Masaquel will continue her playing career next season as part of the Sports Changes Life Victory Scholar program in Ireland.

Ed Swanson said. "Alex was a tremendous player for us over her time here, and helped build a strong foundation for the Tribe women's basketball program."
Masaquel will be pursuing a master's degree in business management at Dublin City University. She will also be suiting up for the DCU college team and their club team, the DCU Mercy. The Honolulu, Hawaii native finished her career with 1,030 points and 680 rebounds, 144 assists, 81 blocks, and 172 steals. She became the 17th player in school history to score her 1,000th career point as a senior in the season finale against Drexel. She was tabbed to the All-CAA Second-Team as a senior, All-CAA Third-Team as a junior, and was selected to the CAA All-Defensive team, twice. Masaquel finished her career in fourth place in school history in field goal percentage (.501), sixth in double-doubles (19), seventh in blocked shots (81), 10th in rebounding average (6.6), and 11th in rebounds (680).

Ed Swanson's time in Williamsburg. She joins Katelyn Mathieu '14, Jazmen Boone '15, and Mackenzie Morrison '15.
The Victory Scholar program allows for former collegiate athletes to continue studying, these scholars also are playing or developing sport at all levels, work in the wider community with young people and gain valuable work experience through internships and mentoring with local businesses.
