Julian Ngoh Golden Goal Lifts Men's Soccer Past N.C. State

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Sophomore Julian Ngoh headed home the game-winner in the 93rd minute to lift the William & Mary men's soccer team to a 3-2 overtime victory over ACC counterpart N.C. State on Monday evening at Martin Family Stadium at Albert-Daly Field. The Tribe (1-1) jumped out to a 2-0 cushion thanks to goals from junior Ryder Bell and sophomore Reeves Trott, but the Wolfpack (1-1) pulled even and forced overtime with markers less than three minutes part.

Just 2:12 into the extra period, junior Remi Frost gathered an N.C. State clearance and touched forward to gain space. His bending cross found the head of a rushing Ngoh who placed it into the right netting for his first career game-winner.

After both teams spent the majority of the first half feeling each other out, the Tribe scored in the 30th minute on Bell's 17th career tally. Senior William Eskay slid the ball to Bell on the left side of the area, and the Moreland Hills, Ohio, native cut back to the middle of the box before finishing inside the right post.

The Tribe extended its lead to 2-0 thanks to Trott's first goal of the season in the 64th minute. Senior Riley Spain collected a clearance and fed junior Marcel Berry down the right flank. His service found the head of Trott who nodded it down and into the right side of the net from six yards out.

N.C. State struck twice in the 75th and 78th minutes to pull even. Clayton Sparks followed up a deflected shot to put the visitors on the board, before a Manny Perez strike from the left side of the 18 found the upper right corner of the frame to knot the contest. Ade Taiwo posted assists on both Wolfpack goals.
