Omar Prewitt Signs Professional Contract in Lithuania

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Former William & Mary men's basketball standout Omar Prewitt inked his first professional contract with BC Siauliai in the Lithuania's top league.  His signing marks the 11th consecutive graduating Tribe class to have a player sign a professional contract. In total, 15 W&M players under head coach Tony Shaver have signed and played professionally.

BC Siauliai is located in the northern part of the country in the city of Siauliai, Lithuania's fourth-largest city. They won the Baltic League title in 2014, 2015 and 2016 along with being Lithuanian League Semifinalists nine times and Cup Semifinalists five times. BC Siauliai struggled last season finishing at 6-30.
 
Prewitt departed W&M as part of the winningest class in program history with 77 victories. He started 93 games over his final three seasons and appeared in 126, which ranks fourth in school history. In total, Prewitt finished among the Tribe's career top 16 in 10 different categories, including fifth in scoring (1,831), 11th in assists (320), and 13th in rebounding (640). He was a three-time All-CAA pick, a two-time NABC All-District selection and as a freshman was named the CAA Rookie of the Year. During his senior campaign, Prewitt was selected as one of 30 national candidates for the Senior CLASS Award. In 2016-17, he was the only player in the CAA to rank among the top 10 in the league in scoring (eighth at 15.7), assists (ninth at 3.2) and rebounding (10th at 6.2) in 2016-17. He scored a season-high 30 points in the win over Charleston after pouring in 28 in a victory over UNCW.
 
Prewitt joins Adam Hess '04, Zeb Cope '04, Adam Payton '07, Laimis Kisielius '08, Alex Smith '09, David Schneider '10, Danny Sumner '10, Marcus Kitts '11, Quinn McDowell '12, Matt Rum '13, Brandon Britt '14, Marcus Thornton '15, Sean Sheldon '16 and Terry Tarpey '16 as players who signed professional contracts during Shaver's tenure. Prewitt is the second W&M player to sign in the Lithuanian LKL. He joins 2008 W&M graduate Laimis Kisielius who recently inked a two-year deal with Neptunas. It will be his 11th professional season and seventh in his home country of Lithuania.
