WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The William & Mary baseball team pulled away late with an eight-run seventh inning to defeat CAA rival Elon, 14-6, and clinch the series on Saturday afternoon at Plumeri Park.
With its third straight win, the Tribe moves to 18-13 overall and 4-4 in CAA play, while the Phoenix falls to 15-16, 5-3 in conference action.
Rookie
Brandon Raquet paced the Tribe's 14-hit attack with a 3-for-3 effort, adding three RBI a double and a triple. Freshman

Ryder Miconi, redshirt sophomore
Kyle Wrighte all tallied two hits and two RBI each.
Junior
Cullen Large and sophomore
Owen Socher both tallied two hits and plated a run. Wrighte and Large also notched a double, while sophomore
Hunter Smith finished 2-for-5.
The Tribe grabbed an early lead on a pair of runs in the first inning. Junior
Ryan Hall led off the frame with a walk, before back-to-back singles brought him home. A bases loaded walk plated Socher to give W&M a 2-0 advantage.
The Green & Gold scored another run in the bottom of the third. Large hit a leadoff double to left center, and Smith followed up with a single through the left side. After the first out, Miconi was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Wrighte then recorded a sacrifice fly to center field, putting the Tribe ahead 3-0.
However, the Phoenix responded with a three-run fourth inning. Will Nance pushed across a pair of runs behind a triple to left center. Zach Evers then tied the game at 3-all on a sac fly to right field.
Elon took the lead with another three-run rally in the top of the sixth. A RBI single from Evers scored the first run, before a bases loaded walk scored the next. Ryne Ogren registered another RBI single for a 6-3 score in favor of the Phoenix.
Nonetheless, the Tribe tied the contest in the home half of the sixth. Wrighte led off with a single, before Raquet plated him courtesy of a triple to left center. Raquet would cross home on a wild pitch, and Socher dialed up a RBI single to create a 6-all tie.
The W&M offense erupted with an eight-run rally in seventh, which was its most runs of the season scored in a frame. Back-to-back RBI doubles from Wrighte and Raquet got the rally going. Trehub got in on the action with a two-RBI single to right center.
Senior
Charles Ameer plated Smith behind a single to left field, and an error at third base allowed Large to score on the play as well. A couple more RBI singles from Miconi and Raquet put the game virtually out of reach at 14-6.
Junior
Robert White (3-1) claimed his third win of the year after fanning three batters and allowing just one hit in two innings of relief.
George Kirby was saddled with the loss as he seven earned runs on six hits and posted two K's.
The Tribe will go for the sweep tomorrow with first pitch slated for 1 p.m.
