WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The William & Mary baseball team fell to CAA rival Elon, 7-6, during the three-game series finale on Sunday afternoon at Plumeri Park.

With the setback, the Tribe falls to 18-14 overall and 4-5 in conference play, while the Phoenix moves to 16-16, 6-3 in CAA action.

Junior Ryan Hall and senior Ryder Miconi paced the W&M offense with two hits apiece. Hall posted a home run and three RBI, while Miconi recorded a double. Freshman Matthew Trehub also recorded a homer and drove in a pair of runs. It's the eighth game of the season that the Tribe posted two home runs.

Elon scored the first run of the afternoon in the top of the third inning. Garrett Stonehouse hit a leadoff single and would advance to second on a wild pitch. Ryne Ogren then belted a one-out single up the middle, platting Stonehouse for an early 1-0 lead.

The Tribe tied the game on a deep shot in the bottom of the fifth. Trehub smashed a leadoff solo blast to right field for his first career homer. However, Kyle Bronivich struck out the side to leave the score at 1-all.

The Phoenix broke away late with a combined six runs in the eighth and ninth inning. In top of the eighth, Cam Devanney plated the first run and a wild pitch scored the next. Elon manufactured its first pair of runs in the ninth on a Shawn Blake two-RBI double. Zach Evers extended the Phoenix's advantage to 7-1 on a two-RBI single to right center.

The Green and Gold made it interesting in the bottom of the ninth after scoring five runs on five hits. After the first out, senior Charles Ameer singled up the middle and Miconi doubled to right field, setting the table. The next batter, redshirt sophomore Kyle Wrighte plated Ameer behind a single up the middle.

Trehub kept the rally going with a sac fly to right field, plating Miconi. Rookie Patrick Ryan singled through the right side, before Hall smashed his fourth homer of 2017 on a three-run bomb through the left side. However, sophomore Owen Socher grounded out to the pitcher to end the rally and the game at 7-6.

Senior Nick Brown (3-3) was credited with the loss, posting two strikeouts and allowing six runs on four hits in 1.1 innings of relief. Starter Nick Raquet, tossed seven solid innings with eight strikeouts and just one run surrendered on eight hits.
