Men's Golf In Hunt After Day One of the Kingsmill Intercollegiate

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The William & Mary men's golf team fired a 297 (+17) in the first round of the Kingsmill Intercollegiate and opened the 54-hole tournament tied for sixth on Sunday afternoon in Williamsburg. Louisville leads the event after shooting an even par 280.
 
Junior Sam Aronoff led William & Mary on the first day of the competition firing a 72 (+2), which puts him in a tie for 12th and four strokes off the individual lead. Senior Austin Morrison and sophomore Will Stewart were just one stroke behind Aronoff, each firing an opening round 73 (+3). Freshman Walker Campbell and sophomore David Hicks fired a 79 and 80, respectively rounding out the Tribe's lineup.
 
The entire Tribe lineup is playing the three day event, and junior Alex Shattuck led the individual group by firing a 75 in the first round. Just off of Shattuck's pace are senior Davis Morrison with 76 and junior Bryce Johnson with a 77.
 
The second round of the 2017 Kingsmill Intercollegiate will get underway on the River Course with one shotgun start time at 11 a.m. This is a change to the original schedule because of the potential for frost over night. The final shotgun round of the event is scheduled for Tuesday, March 21 at 8:15 a.m.
