WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The William & Mary women's basketball team dropped an overtime game to College of Charleston 71-69 on Friday night at Kaplan Arena. With the decision the Tribe falls to 16-9, 6-8 in Colonial Athletic Association play, while the Cougars improve to 9-16, 6-8 in league action.

Abby Rendle scored a season-high 18 points as she set the single-season school record for blocked shots adding four to sit at 89 for the season. Senior
Alexandra Masaquel notched her seventh double-double of the season on 16 points and 13 rebounds, while classmate
Latrice Hunter added 15 points and three rebounds.
After a back and forth first quarter, Charleston used a quick 4-0 run early in the second quarter to build a four-point lead. Back-to-back lay-ups by Tanisha Brown and Breanna Bolden made the score 22-15 with 6:33 left in the half.
W&M responded to cut the deficit to three, but again the Cougars went on a run, this time a 9-3 run to build the largest lead of the half. Tanisha Brown canned two free throws to start the run, before Dajah Logan hit a triple. After three straight Rendle points, Logan and Tanisha Brown hit back-to-back lay-ups making the score 31-22 with 2:22 left in the half.
The Tribe responded with a 5-0 spurt of its own to cut the halftime deficit to just four points. A traditional three-point play from junior
Jenna Green sparked the run, and then Masquel knocked home a lay-up making it 31-27 at intermission.
Both teams would trade buckets on the first four possessions of the second half, before CofC built another nine point lead with a 5-0 spurt. Schlasia Brown got to the hoop for a lay-up, before she completed a 3-point play to make the score 40-31 with 5:44 left in the quarter.
W&M answered with 13 straight to points to regain its first lead since the first quarter. Rendle sparked the rally with a lay-up, which was matched by a 3-point play by Hunter. The rally continued as senior
Marlena Tremba hit two from the line and Masaquel tied the score with a lay-up. Hunter got a steal and a bucket, before Tremba connected on two more from the line to make it 44-40 with 2:16 left.
Leading by three, the Tribe went on a quick 4-0 spurt to extend its lead to seven. Rendle scored four in a row to make it 58-51 with 2:37 left.
The squads traded baskets, before Charleston started the game-tying run by scoring the last seven points of regulation. Cailin Dorsey hit a lay-up, before Tanisha Brown got one of her own. Shiclasia Brown got to the hoop and drew the harm to tie the score 60-60 with 19 seconds left.
W&M had the final look - and got a good look for Rendle off a pick and roll - but the last second jumper was too strong.
Overtime was a seesaw affair and Charleston was able to get to three, three-point leads.
First, on a triple to open the stanza by Dorsey. After a Tribe basket, Tanisha Brown extended back to three and again the Tribe answered. W&M finally tied the score at 67-67 on a triple from sophomore
Bianca Boggs.
Schalasia Brown gave the Cougars the lead on a jumper, but again Hunter answered. Schalasia Brown got through the defense and used the square to make it 71-69. On the last shot of the night, Rendle got a free throw line jumper off that clanked off the front of the iron.
For the fifth straight game W&M won the rebounding battle, 48-45. Masaquel pulled down 13, while Tremba turned a season-high nine rebounds.
The Tribe had 23 assists, but set a season-high with 25 miscues. Tremba set a career-high leading the Tribe with 10 helpers.
Tanisha Brown scored a game-high 24 points and 12 rebounds to lead three Cougars in double-figures. Shiclasia Brown added 16 points and six rebounds, while Breanna Bolden had 12 points and five rebounds.
The Green and Gold return to action as they travel to Elon for a game on Sunday, Feb. 19. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m.
