HARRISONBURG, Va. – The William & Mary men's basketball team battled back from a double-digit second-half deficit, but fell in overtime at James Madison, 95-92, on Thursday night. Senior
Daniel Dixon's lay-up with 27 seconds remaining sent the game to extra time after the Green and Gold (14-12, 8-7 CAA) trailed by as many as 14 in the second half. JMU (8-20, 6-9) jumped out to a six-point lead in overtime and held off a late Tribe rally when senior
Omar Prewitt's three-pointer at the buzzer was off the mark.
Dixon led W&M with a game-high 29 points on 11-of-21 shooting, including 3-of-7 from three-point range. Prewitt tallied his third double-double of the season with 17 points and 11 rebounds to go with four assists. Junior

On the ensuing JMU possession, Prewitt picked Kent's pocket, but his running jumper at the buzzer hit off side rim.
The Dukes scored seven of the first eight points in overtime, thanks in part to a trio of missed Tribe free throws. A Joey McLean jumper just nine seconds into the extra session gave JMU the lead for good. James Madison hit its first three shots in OT, and Dimitrije Cabarkapa's three-pointer at the 3:17 mark extended the Duke lead to 88-82.
A Dixon triple off an inbounds play cut the deficit to 90-87 with 47 seconds remaining. Another Dixon three-pointer with 5.1 ticks left closed the gap to 93-92. On the ensuing inbound play, JMU's Ramone Snowden threw the ball into the Tribe bench, but Dixon was whistled for his fifth foul on a hold. Kent knocked down both free throws to re-establish the three-point margin. Prewitt's game-tying three-point attempt from the right wing hit off the front rim as time expired.
W&M finished the contest at 45.8 percent (33-of-72) from the floor, including 8-of-24 (33.3 percent) from three-point range. The Tribe connected on just 62.1 percent (18-of-29) at the free throw line. Freshman

The Dukes scored eight in a row, including a McLean left wing three-pointer, to extend the lead to double-digits, 19-9, and force a W&M timeout less than two minutes later. McLean and Ivan Lukic combined for all eight points during the run.
Burchfield came of the bench, shooting the Tribe back into the contest. He hit three-pointers on three-straight W&M possessions, narrowing the gap to 26-20 with 11:46 remaining. Whitman, who like Burchfield scored 11 first-half points, added an old-fashion three-point play to cut the deficit to 30-27 three minutes later.
Lukic and Stakus jump-started a 9-0 JMU run to put the home team back on top by double-digits. In total, the duo combined for 13 of the Dukes' next 15 points as the lead reached its largest at 47-33 following a Lukic three-pointer with just over two minutes remaining in the first half.
