WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The William & Mary women's tennis team suffered a 7-0 setback at ACC counterpart Wake Forest on Saturday morning. The Tribe fell to 3-4 on the year, while Wake Forest improved to 7-2.
 
In doubles, junior Olivia Thaler and sophomore Lauren Goodman continued their winning ways with a victory at the No. 2 position. After Wake Forest opened with a win at the top spot, Thaler and Goodman dispatched of Emma Davis and Chandler Carter, 6-3, at the second post. The Green and Gold duo improved to 3-0 on the year. The Demon Deacons claimed the initial point of the match as Samantha Asch and Joanna Zalewski downed senior Marie Faure and junior Cecily Wuenscher, 6-3, at No. 3.
 
In singles, Wake Forest won five of the six matches in straight sets. Zalewski downed Thaler, 6-3, 6-2, at No. 4 to increase the Deacs lead to 2-0. Wake Forest's nationally-ranked singles players clinched the match with victories at the top two spots. At No. 2, No. 71-ranked Emma Davis defeated Goodman, 6-4, 6-0, while No. 53-ranked Kimmy Guerin upended junior Ekaterina Stepanova, 6-3, 6-3, at the top spot to clinch the match.
 
Junior Maria Groener battled into a third-set super tiebreaker before falling at the No. 5 position. Carter won the opening set, 6-2, before Groener fought back to take the second set in a tiebreaker, 7-6 (5). The Wake Forest player gained the upper hand in the third-set super tiebreaker, topping Groener, 10-2.
