Tribe Men Sweeps UNCW, Delaware at the CAA Pod Meet

The William & Mary men's swimming team wrapped up an undefeated weekend at the CAA Pod Meet Sunday, winning nine of 12 races to beat UNCW 201-140 and Delaware 235-112.  With the wins, the Tribe improved its record to 5-1 (3-0 CAA), going undefeated in conference play for the third year in a row.

Top performers for W&M on Sunday included sophomore Chris Balbo (Short Hills, N.J.), who won the 200 fly and broke his own dual meet record for the second week in a row.  He swam a lifetime-best 1:50.74 for two wins, and improved to 12th all-time among Tribe athletes.  Freshman Jake Kealy (Wilton, Conn.) also won his event out-right, swimming a season-best 1:50.52 in the 200 back to rank 16th all-time in school history.

Other winners included junior Eric Grimes (Louisville, Ky.), who was second overall in the 500 free, beating all swimmers from UNCW in 4:39.36.  Sophomore Colin Wright (Williamsburg, Va.) swept the 100 free in 45.35 seconds, before joining forces with Ian Thompson (Alexandria, Va.), Grimes, and Kyle Neri (Wallingford, Conn.) to win the 400 free relay in 3:03.97.

William & Mary stays on the road next weekend, traveling out to Lexington, Va., to face VMI at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 11.
