RICHMOND, Va. – Sophomores
Nari Garner and
Victoria Reynolds scored 18-points apiece as the William & Mary women's basketball team used a big second quarter to pick up a 78-64 road victory at Richmond on Wednesday afternoon. The Tribe has won four in a row and is 6-1 for the third straight season, while the Spiders fall to 5-4.
Up by four, Richmond used an 8-2 run to build its largest lead of the game midway through the first quarter. Tonysha Curry opened the run with a lay-up, before junior
Bianca Boggs answered with two free throws. Karliegh Wike had the next six points to put the Spiders up 18-8 with 1:04 left in the first quarter.
W&M outscored Richmond 25-14 in the second quarter, and used a 10-5 run at the end of the period to take a 35-32 halftime advantage. Reynolds hit a triple to put W&M back in the lead for the first time since early in the game. The Spiders responded with a three of their own, but five straight points from Garner and a jumper from senior
Jenna Green gave the Tribe a 3-point halftime advantage.
The Tribe used a 17-3 run to put the game away to open the fourth quarter. After a Richmond 3-pointer, Boggs completed a traditional 3-point play, and then
Gree and Boggs converted lay-ups. Kylie Murphee hit another three for Richmond, but the Tribe responded with a back-to-back lay-ups from Rendle and Reynolds, before Rendle hit a jumper and Garner completed a four-point play to put W&M up 66-49 with 4:51 left in the half.

Bianca Boggs and
Victoria Reynolds each had 18 points to lead four in double-figures for W&M. Garner shot 6-of-8 from the field and hit five 3-pointers for the second straight game, while Reynolds just missed a double-double with nine rebounds. Senior
Abby Rendle added 14 points, seven rebounds, and seven blocks, while classmate
Jenna Green had 12 points, four rebounds, seven assists, and two steals.
Micaela Parson had a game-high 21 points to go along with six rebounds, three assists, and four steals. Kailyn Fee was the only other Spider in double-figures with 11 points, two rebounds, and two steals.
Inside the Numbers
- After shooting just 23.5-percent in the first quarter, the Tribe shot 50-percent (24-for-48) for the remaining three quarters. For the game W&M was 43.1-percent (28-for-65) from the floor.
-Richmond won the rebounding battle, 45-35, which is the fourth time this season the Tribe has lost the rebounding battle. However, W&M has won all four games.
- The Tribe had 16 assists, while committing a season-low 12 turnovers. Senior
Jenna Green had a game-high seven helpers.
- W&M also had nine blocks in the game, lead-by a game-high seven from senior
Abby Rendle.

W&M plays its final non-conference road game as it travels to St. Francis (Pa.) on Saturday, Dec. 2. Tipoff between the Tribe and Red Flash is set for 2 p.m. The Tribe closes non-conference play with three straight at Kaplan Arena starting with USC Upstate on Tuesday, Dec. 5 at 7 p.m.
