High-Powered Offense Downs Volleyball at Towson

TOWSON, Md. – The William & Mary volleyball team was unable to slow down the offensive attack of Colonial Athletic Association third-ranked Towson in a 3-0 (17-25, 16-25, 14-25) final on Sunday afternoon in SECU Arena. The Tigers (21-3, 7-3 CAA) hit .347 to best the Tribe (4-20, 1-9 CAA) in the 38th all-time meeting between the programs.

Sophomore Casey Foote led the Tribe early after spiking four kills in the opening set. The Tigers scored the first three points of the period, before a Foote hammer evened the frame at 5-all. TU responded quickly with a run of five straight points to go up 10-5. At the mid-point, Foote sparked a 6-1 rally with a trio of kills to close the gap to 16-15. After a Dedrick swing kept it a one-point margin, 17-16, Towson sparked a 4-0 run to pull away in the set.

The Tigers went on to claim the next two sets on the strength of its high-octane offense. TU continued to hit over .300 and totaled just nine attack errors in the final two periods.
