The William & Mary field hockey team fell on the road at American on Friday evening, 3-0, despite matching the host team in both shots and penalty corners. The Tribe moves to 0-2 on the year, while the Eagles improved to 2-1 overall.
W&M put up 11 shots and five penalty corners in the contest, matching the total achieved by American, but was unable to convert and break through for a score. Junior
Cammie Lloyd (Midlothian, Va.) led all players with four shots total and two on-frame. On the defensive end, freshman goalkeeper
Morgan Connor (Bedford, N.Y.) continued to play well, making seven saves to bring her season total to 18 -- an average of nine per game that would be the best for the Tribe since 1994 if it holds steady throughout the year.
William & Mary returns home on Sunday, hosting Rutgers at 1 p.m. on Busch Field. Admission to the game, and all home field hockey matches, is free of charge.
