WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Towson scored two second half goals to top the William & Mary women's soccer team 2-1 on Sunday afternoon at Martin Family Stadium at Albert-Daly Field. Sophomore
Mackenzie Kober scored the lone goal for W&M. With the decision, the Tribe falls to 7-4-0, 1-1-0 in Colonial Athletic Association play, while the Tigers improve to 4-7-1, 1-1-0 in league action.
After a back and forth battle for possession to start the first half, William & Mary broke the deadlock with a goal in the 27th minute. Redshirt freshman
Sarah Segan and Kober worked a give-and-go to perfection that sprung Kober free in the right side of the box. The sophomore buried her shot off of the left post and into the goal. Her second of the season gave, W&M a 1-0 lead.
Towson found the equalizer just minutes three minutes into the second half. Emily Marshall sent a feed to Justine Stone, who fired a shot from 30 yards out that hit off of the crossbar and bounced down over the goalline, leveling the score.
The Tigers took their first lead of the match with a marker in the 56th minute. Elizabeth Coletti started the play with a feed that led Alexis Toles down the left side of the pitch. Toles sent a cross into the box that Mackenzie McCaull raced down and headed into the net. Her second goal of the season made the score 2-1.
W&M just missed a chance to level the score in the 69th minute. Junior

Sami Grasso, who was open in front of the net. Grasso redirected it towards frame, but Taylor Sebolao came up with an excellent stop. In the 71st minute, senior
Kady Kriner turned a shot on target from the top right of the penalty area, but again Sebolao came up with the save.
The Tribe had two chances in the final minute, but couldn't put either away. Freshman
Hannah Keith pushed her shot wide, before the Green and Gold built up its final chance a Grasso shot that was saved by Sebolao.
W&M held a 16-7 advantage in shots including a 9-5 advantage in shots on-goal. Grasso fired a game-high four shots, while Kober fired three. Junior
Samantha Johnson recorded three saves in her fist career start.
The Green and Gold conclude its season-long five-match homestand next weekend with just one match. W&M plays host to Elon on Sunday, Oct. 2. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
