Tribe Lax’s Three-Game Winning Streak Snapped at JMU in CAA Opener

HARRISONBURG, Va. (April 2, 2016)—The William & Mary lacrosse team suffered a 17-4 setback at James Madison in both teams' conference opener on Saturday afternoon.

The loss snapped the Tribe's (6-5, 0-1) three-game winning streak, while it ended a two-game skid for the Dukes (5-7, 1-0).

Junior Shannon Quinn led the College with two goals, while junior Abby Junior and freshman Eloise Gagnon also found the back of the cage. In addition to her goal, Junior's stat line also included a team-high three draw controls, three ground balls and a caused turnover.

W&M held a 12-10 edge in draw controls, but was outshot by the Dukes, 24-9, and had four fewer ground balls (14-10).

The Tribe was outscored by just one goal in the second half (5-4) and closed the game with three unanswered scores but was unable to overcome a 12-0 halftime deficit.

Betsy Angel led JMU with eight points (4g, 4a).

The Tribe will return to action when it hosts Hofstra and Drexel for a pair of conference matchups next weekend.
