The William & Mary volleyball team fell on the road Sunday in its final away contest of the season to league-leading College of Charleston, 3-0. The Tribe moves to 8-19 on the year and 2-13 in Colonial Athletic Association play, while the Cougars improved to 17-10, 10-5 in the conference.
Junior
Sydney Biniak (Elkridge, Md.) extended her team lead on offense, leading W&M with eight kills to go along with a block, while freshman
Casey Foote (Prospect, Ky.) added six more kills with 11 digs and another block. Heading into the final weekend, Foote is just 12 kills from 300 this season, a feat that would make her just the fourth freshman in school history to reach that milestone. Her classmate
Alex Stein (East Setauket, N.Y.) had an all-around solid day, with seven digs, three blocks, two aces, and four kills.
Also of note, senior
Kristen Larrick (Bethesda, Md.) celebrated her birthday with five kills and two blocks, while junior
Paige Humphrey (Oak Hill, Va.) had four more kills and a match-best four blocks. Senior
Gabrielle Pe (Virginia Beach, Va.) tied Foote for the team lead with 11 digs, with freshman
Samantha Conway (Mechanicsville, Va.) close behind with seven more digs. Sophomore
Katie Kemp (Brentwood, Tenn.) started the match at setter and provided 16 assists and a kill, and freshman
Autumn Brenner (McLean, Va.) came on in the final set in relief to collect 10 more assists, a kill, and a block.
William & Mary returns home next weekend to bring its season to close. On Friday, the Tribe hosts Towson at 7 p.m., before welcoming Delaware to town on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Before the match against the Blue Hens, the Tribe will take a moment to honor and thank its senior class.
