The William & Mary volleyball team fell at home to Towson on Friday night, despite several outstanding defensive efforts. The Tribe moves to 8-20 on the year and 2-13 in the Colonial Athletic Association, while the Tigers improved to 23-7 (10-5 CAA).
Junior
Paige Humphrey (Oak Hill, Va.) was on fire at the net, making four solo blocks to lead all players. That ties her for 11th all-time in W&M's single-match record books, as one of just nine players to ever record as many as four solo blocks in a match. Humphrey had five total blocks, best on the night, and also had four kills against no errors. Behind her,
Sara Zumbach (Franklin, Tenn.) had a team-high 15 digs, six assists, and a pair of aces.
Also of note, senior
Kristen Larrick (Bethesda, Md.) matched Humphrey with five blocks, but reversed how she got there with one solo effort and four block-assists. Junior
Sydney Biniak (Elkridge, Md.) hit .316 with eight kills and two blocks to lead the Tribe, with freshman
Alex Stein (East Setauket, N.Y.) adding six more kills and seven digs.
Casey Foote (Prospect, Ky.) had four kills, and is now just eight away from 300 in her rookie campaign. Only three Tribe freshmen have ever reached that milestone. Senior
Gabrielle Pe (Virginia Beach, Va.) had six digs, and freshman
Autumn Brenner (McLean, Va.) had a double-double of 19 assists and 10 digs, to go with three kills and a pair of aces.
William & Mary brings its season to a close on Saturday night, hosting Delaware at 7:30 p.m. Before the match, the Tribe will take a moment to honor its four-member senior class.
