The William & Mary volleyball team brought its brief road trip to a close on Sunday, with a 3-0 loss at the hands of third-place Towson. The Tribe is now 8-13 overall, and 2-6 after the first turn through the Colonial Athletic Association, while the Tigers improved to 18-5, 5-3 in league play.
Freshman
Casey Foote (Prospect, Ky.) retook the team lead with 11 kills on the day, pairing them with five digs and two blocks, while junior
Paige Humphrey (Oak Hill, Va.) had five kills and a team-best three blocks. Senior
Kristen Larrick (Bethesda, Md.) had four more kills and a pair of blocks, and junior
Sydney Biniak (Elkridge, Md.) added in six kills.
Also of note, junior
Sara Zumbach (Franklin, Tenn.) led all players with 13 digs, and senior
Gabrielle Pe (Virginia Beach, Va.) had 10 more. Freshman
Alex Stein (East Setauket, N.Y.) paired four kills and six digs, and classmate
Autumn Brenner (McLean, Va.) had 24 assists and seven more digs.
William & Mary returns home next weekend for four matches in eight days. The homestand begins on Friday night, Oct. 21, hosting Hofstra at 7 p.m. The match will also be W&M's "Dig Pink" game, raising money and awareness for breast cancer research and treatment.
