The William & Mary volleyball team fell on the road Friday night to a driven Delaware team in straight sets, 3-0. The Tribe moves to 8-12 on the year and 2-5 in the Colonial Athletic Association, while the Blue Hens improved to 7-13 overall and 1-6 in league play.
Leading the way for W&M on the night was junior
Sara Zumbach (Franklin, Tenn.), who had 14 digs and an ace to go with three assists and a rare libero kill. Classmate
Sydney Biniak (Elkridge, Md.) scored seven kills to go with a block, and senior
Kristen Larrick (Bethesda, Md.) provided a big spark off the bench with seven kills and no errors on a .538 attack, and also had a block as well.
Freshman
Alex Stein (East Setauket, N.Y.) led all players in the match with three blocks on the night, just ahead of junior
Paige Humphrey (Oak Hill, Va.), who had two more stops to go with five kills. Freshman
Casey Foote (Prospect, Ky.) also had five kills and a block, adding 10 digs to her effort on the night. Her classmate
Samantha Conway (Mechanicsville, Va.) chipped in with another ace, kill, and nine digs, while senior
Gabrielle Pe (Virginia Beach, Va.) had eight more digs. Rounding out the notables, freshman setter
Autumn Brenner (McLean, Va.) had 16 assists and seven digs in a set and a half, and sophomore
Katie Kemp (Brentwood, Tenn.) added in eight more assists and five digs in relief.
William & Mary's brief road trip comes to a close on Sunday, taking on Towson at 1 p.m.
