RICHMOND, Va. (Nov. 16, 2015) – After posting an outstanding performance in the No. 7 William & Mary football team's win against Towson, junior quarterback
Steve Cluley has been chosen as the Colonial Athletic Association Offensive Player of the Week.
En route to leading W&M to its sixth-consecutive victory and clinching at least a share of the conference title, Cluley completed 21-of-23 passes for 262 yards with two touchdowns. The 91.3 completion percentage set a single-game school record.
The Manasquan, N.J., native currently ranks third in the conference in passing yards per game (222.3), passing efficiency (144.6) and total offense (229.8). Additionally, he has thrown just two interceptions this season (282 passing attempts) and posted a stretch of 176 consecutive passes without an INT earlier this fall.
Cluley has been especially effective in the last four games, as he has completed 87 of 123 passes (.707) for 240.8 yards per game during the stretch. Additionally, he has thrown at least one touchdown pass in all but one game this season.
Having already clinched a share of the league crown, W&M will look for outright CAA title when it plays at No. 9/12 Richmond on Saturday at noon. The game will be televised regionally by Comcast SportsNet.
