WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (April 7, 2014)—The No. 12 William and Mary men's gymnastics team will compete at the 2014 NCAA Championships this weekend at the University of Michigan.
W&M will compete in the first session on Thursday at 1 p.m., as the group will also include Oklahoma, Stanford, Illinois, Iowa and California. The second session will get underway at 7 p.m., and will include Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State, Minnesota, Air force and Nebraska.
The top three teams, as well as the top three individual finishers in all-around and on each event (not on advancing teams) will qualify for the team and all-around finals on Friday at 7 p.m. The top 10 individuals on each event during Friday's session will advance to the individual event finals on Saturday at 7 p.m.
The Big 10 Network will broadcast the meet, and live streaming will be available at NCAA.com.
W&M's roster features a pair of former NCAA All-Americans, as senior Landon Funiciello and sophomore Neal Courter have both previously garnered the distinction. Funiciello placed second on rings last season after finishing sixth in the event as a freshman, while Courter placed third on vault last spring. Funiciello enters this year's championship ranked second on rings with a NQA of 16.05.
In addition to ranking 12th nationally, the Tribe enters this weekend's meet ranked among the nation's top 15 in all six events – pommel horse, 10th (70.025); rings, 12th (71.838); parallel bars, 12th (69.825); high bar, 12th (70.325); floor, 13th (71.288); and vault, 14th (71.038).
