DEFENSIVE LINE
The Tribe's defensive line has the potential to be one of the league's top units this season, as the entire front four returns with significant starting experience. Additionally, position coach Trevor Andrews' group has capable reserves available at every spot along the line.

Senior captain George Beerhalter and junior Jasper Coleman will occupy the tackle spots and will be a handful for opposing offenses to handle on the interior. The pair is two of only five players on the Tribe's current roster to have played as true freshmen. Despite being a valuable contributor throughout his career, Beerhalter has been forced to play through multiple injuries during the past few seasons. However, injuries were not an issue this year as he parlayed a healthy offseason into increased performance during winter conditioning. In doing so, he earned a share of the John A. Stewart Winter Warrior Award, which is given annually to the player, or players, who best exemplify the qualities of dedication, effort and achievement that defined Stewart's career at W&M. As long as he remains healthy, the 6-3, 280-pound native of Pittsburgh, Pa., should be a strong candidate for postseason honors.

Coleman also has tremendous potential and could emerge as one of the CAA's top tackles. The 6-4, 284-pound standout has great size, speed, strength and explosiveness, which makes him incredibly difficult to block. Although he was slowed somewhat by injuries during the latter half of last season, he started the final six contests and provided valuable production.

Adding depth at the tackle position will be a pair of talented young reserves in sophomore Tyler Claytor and redshirt freshman Grey Congo. Claytor showed flashes of great potential last fall when he made an impact as a true freshman – the Tribe's lone first-year player to earn game action in 2012. The 6-3, 270-pound native of Snellville, Ga., has good lateral movement and is stout against the run. He used the spring to improve his consistency, which should translate to increased production this season. After being a member of the scout team last year, Congo will serve as a reserve defensive tackle this fall. A native of Bowie, Md., Congo (6-2, 275) is scrappy, productive and has a good knack for getting to the ball.

Occupying the two defensive end spots will be senior Bryan Stinnie and junior Stephen Sinnott. Although injuries have hampered Stinnie's career, the Troy, Va., native started all 11 games last season and expects to enter the fall healthy for his final year in Williamsburg. The 6-4, 255-pound standout has good size and long arms and is poised for a productive senior campaign.

Sinnott (6-4, 250) will enter the fall as a starter for the third consecutive season and has the potential to emerge as an all-conference performer. A tough, aggressive player, he has a great motor and good instincts for the game. Additionally, he has shown the ability to create turnovers, as evidenced by his four forced fumbles during the past two seasons.

There should be little to no drop off in production when reserve defensive ends junior Mike Reilly and sophomore Braxton Hicks are on the field. Reilly (6-4, 265) has gained significant playing experience during the past two seasons and was the Tribe's most productive down lineman last fall with 4.5 sacks and seven tackles for a loss. The Old Tappan, N.J., native has a tremendous work ethic both on and off the field and that should translate to even better results this season. Hicks (6-4, 245) possesses good speed and explosiveness and has the tools to be a threat as an edge rusher. After appearing in six games as a reserve last season, he gained valuable experience during the spring and should see his role increase as he continues to add strength.
