William and Mary senior
Rad Gunzenhauser (Pittsburgh, Pa.) kept his perfect streak alive this season, winning the Colonial Athletic Association Runner of the Week award for the third time Tuesday. Gunzenhauser has been honored after every meet he's competed in this year, leading the Tribe every time out.
This week's honor came after the Pre-National Invitational, where he finished 112th in 24:42.6 to lead W&M to upsetting a pair of higher-ranked regional foes and improving nine places over the pre-meet seed. He improved 29 places over his spot at the 5K split, and led the team to a 31st-place finish overall in the 52-team event. Earlier this season, Gunzenhauser won the Spider Alumni Open and finished eighth at the Panorama Farms Invitational.
William and Mary has this weekend off, before heading to Towson, Md. on Nov. 2 for the CAA Championships. The Tribe will be trying to extend its conference-record winning streak to 14 years in a row.
