The William and Mary volleyball team brought its season to a close Thursday night, falling in a tough match at VCU 3-0.  The Tribe's season is complete at 8-18 overall, while the Rams move on to the CAA Tournament at 15-15 overall and 8-6 in league play.

W&M's efforts on the night were led by sophomore Julia Swalchick (Melbourne, Fla.), who had eight kills and hit .286.  Freshman Manon Murray (Greensboro, N.C.) was right behind her with seven kills, six digs, and a pair of blocks, and redshirt-freshman Paulette Grand Pre (Laguna Beach, Calif.) chipped in with six kills, three digs, and an ace.

Also of note, junior setter Molly Krull (Raleigh, N.C.) had 19 assists in just two sets of reserve action, and contributed on a pair of blocks.  Classmate Shaylin O'Connell (Leesburg, Va.) had a match-high three blocks to go with four digs, and sophomore Celine Alasomuka (Centreville, Va.) was the other defensive leader with nine digs.  Thursday was the final collegiate match for seniors Brooke Bauernfeind (Ashburn, Va.) and Anne Dorff (Kent, Ohio), who combined for four kills, two digs, and a block.  Rounding out the Tribe's efforts, freshman Carolina Rivas (Orlando, Fla.) had 11 assists in two sets, and redshirt-freshman Devin Andrews-Lyssy (Santa Rosa, Calif.) had five digs.

With the season complete, William and Mary will now await word on possible post-season honors.  The Colonial Athletic Association will announce its all-conference teams and award winners next week, on the eve of the conference championships, while the Virginia State Sports Information Directors will announce all-state selections in mid-December.  The American Volleyball Coaches Association all-region teams will be anounced on December 6.
