The William and Mary volleyball team lost a tough match Saturday night at Hofstra, falling 3-0 in a late-season Colonial Athletic Association match-up. The Tribe is now 8-15, while the Pride improved to 13-14 overall and 4-6 in the league.
Leading the way for the Tribe tonight in the kills column was senior
Brooke Bauernfeind (Ashburn, Va.), scoring on nine kills while adding two digs and two blocks. Redshirt-freshman
Monika Stanciauskas (Wheaton, Ill.) hit .500 on the night with seven kills and three blocks, while freshman setter
Carolina Rivas (Orlando, Fla.) lined up next to her and scored a double-double of 25 assists, 10 digs, and a team-best four blocks.
Also turning in notable performances for the Tribe was sophomore
Celine Alasomuka (Centreville, Va.), who had 16 digs and two aces. Middles
Shaylin O'Connell (Leesburg, Va.) and
Alexandra Ciaccio (Houston, Texas) had five kills and six kills, respectively, with O'Connell adding three blocks while Ciaccio earned her kills while hitting .417. Redshirt-freshmen
Paulette Grand Pre (Laguna Beach, Calif.) rounded out the notables with nine digs and two aces.
William and Mary returns home next weekend for the final two home matches of the year, hosting Georgia State and UNC Wilmington on Friday and Saturday.
