Chelsey Burk was elevated to the position of Deputy Athletics Director in Fall of 2019. Burk previously served as Senior Associate Athletics Director for Finance & Administration from 2018-2019 after three years as the Tribe’s Assistant Athletics Director for Business Affairs from 2015-2018. She departed W&M Athletics to join the Atlantic-10 Conference during the summer of 2022.
During her tenure with the Tribe, Burk has touched nearly every internal area of the department including budgeting, human resources, equipment, corporate sponsorship/media rights, facility planning, game day event management, ticketing, capital projects, team operations and logistics, and scheduling.
In her current role, she serves as a member of the department’s executive leadership team where she provides strategic direction and oversight of department initiatives. This includes oversight of all financial planning, facility operations, capital projects, human resources, and equipment.

Burk has oversight of key contract negotiations and relationships with several of the department’s major partners including Under Armour, Pepsi, and Teamworks. Â

In her role, she serves as the sport administrator for Volleyball, men’s & women’s Golf, and is the secondary sport administrator for men’s basketball.

In Burk’s previous role as the Tribe’s Senior Associate Athletics Director for Finance & Administration, she oversaw every aspect of the departments financial operation, including budget operations, ticket sales, and corporate sponsorships. She also oversaw the day to day operations of human resources, equipment, and facilities management. During that time, she served as the sport administrator for Volleyball, men’s & women’s Golf, and was the secondary administrator for Football.Â

Prior to returning to the Tribe, Burk served as the Department of Accounting Program Coordinator at Virginia Commonwealth University. It was a position that saw her manage the daily business operations of the Accounting Department and the Controllers Executive RoundTable organization supporting top level executives in the Richmond area. She was responsible for the development of the annual budget requests for all operating expenses and human resources within her department.
Before her time at VCU, Burk spent four years as the head of Athletics Business at California University of Pennsylvania from 2010-2014. Her responsibilities included overseeing the daily financial operations of the department. She was also responsible for the game day ticket operations and managed the licensing agreements for Athletics. In 2011, she served as the Tournament Director for the NCAA DII Women’s Golf Regional.
Burk’s first stint at William & Mary came from 2008-2010 when she began her career as the Athletics Business Manager. While working with the Tribe, she managed the travel and recruiting budgets for all 23 varsity sports.
As an undergrad at the University of Kansas, Burk was a member of the Women’s Golf team while earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Studies. During her time with the Jayhawks, she was a three-time Academic All-Big 12 first-team selection and was a three time NGCA All-American Scholar. In 2008, Burk earned her Master’s degree from California University of Pennsylvania in Sport Management with a concentration in Intercollegiate Athletic Administration.
Burk currently resides in Williamsburg, with her husband Jason.
