David Miller enters
his first season as an assistant coach for William and Mary. Miller will serve as an assistant coach with
his responsibilities including hitting, recruiting, outfielder instruction,
field maintenance, as well as being the primary liaison with the team's
strength and conditioning staff.

Tribe Head Coach Frank Leoni at the time of his hiring. "He brings a
wealth of experience, as both a player and coach, to our program. David
will have a dramatic impact on our team's offensive approach and will be a
great representative for the program in the community and on the recruiting
trail."
Miller
comes to Williamsburg after serving as an assistant coach at Villanova the past
two seasons. With the Wildcats, Miller helped raise the team batting average
by more than 20 points, helping Villanova hit over .300 as a team for the first
time since 1989. Under Miller's tutelage in 2010, Wildcat standout Matt
Szczur led the BIG EAST in hitting with his .443 average and was eventually
selected in the fifth-round of the MLB Draft by the Chicago Cubs.
Prior
to his time at Villanova, Miller also served as an assistant coach at
University of Rutgers in Camden, as well as at the University of Hawaii in
Hilo. Miller also has extensive experience coaching in the Cape Cod
League, helping guide the Chatham Anglers to the playoffs.
A
former collegiate star at Clemson, Miller was a first-round draft pick (23rd
overall) of the Cleveland Indians in the 1995 First-Year Player Draft. In three
seasons at Clemson (1993-95), he helped lead the Tigers to national No. 1
rankings in both his sophomore and junior years. Clemson won three straight
Atlantic Coast Conference championships during those years and advanced to the
College World Series in 1995.
Miller
was a junior on the 1995 College World Series team and was named a finalist for
national Player of the Year honors. A consensus All-America selection that
season as well as a first team All-ACC pick, Miller batted .383 with nine home
runs, 78 RBI and 27 stolen bases while starting all 68 games in 1995. He
finished his collegiate career with a .335 average, 143 runs scored, 149 RBI
and 10 home runs.
Overall,
Miller played nine season of professional baseball, reaching the Triple-A level
for the first time in 1998, just his third professional season. In total,
Miller played 225 games at the Triple-A level, playing in the Cleveland
Indians, Atlanta Braves, and Cincinnati Reds organizations.
