Ryan Peffer is in his second year as the assistant coach for both the men's and women's golf teams. He assists in all facets of coaching as well as with recruiting, program administration, and tournament hosting.
Peffer has been coaching at the collegiate level since 2004, working with three colleges at the NCAA Division II and III levels prior to joining the Tribe. Most recently, he was the assistant coach at Hollins University in 2010-11. While coaching Hollins, the team improved their scoring average by more than 37 strokes per round over the previous season.
Prior to Hollins, Peffer spent the 2010 spring campaign as the head men's and women's coach at Queens University of Charlotte. Under his direction the men's team improved to a No. 25 national ranking in Division II, and the women rose 14 spots to No. 52 in the same span. In addition to coaching, Peffer served as an instructor for the university’s professional golf management program.
Peffer's first collegiate stop was at Franklin & Marshall College, where he was the assistant women's coach for three years before serving two and a half as the head coach. Under his direction, the Diplomats captured five tournament wins and improved their team scoring average by nearly 57 strokes per round. At F&M, he was instrumental in developing the program’s first off-season physical conditioning regime, and placed an emphasis on academic achievement as the team posted an impressive 3.58 GPA during his final year as head coach.
Peffer is a Class “A” PGA Certified Professional in Instruction. He is also a US Kids Golf Certified Instructor and Positive Coaching Alliance Certified Coach. In addition to his responsibilities at The College, Peffer teaches both private lessons and group clinics at Williamsburg National Golf Club. During the summer months, he serves as the lead instructor and junior golf coordinator at The Tuxedo Club (NY). He has also held the position of first assistant golf professional at Lancaster Country Club (PA) and the Pete Dye River Course of Virginia Tech.
Peffer participates in tournament play in the Mid-Atlantic PGA & the Metropolitan PGA sections. Competing as a professional, he has recorded a total of five tournament wins.
Peffer is also a member of the Golf Coaches Association of America and the Women’s Golf Coaches Association.
Peffer played at Clarion University of Pennsylvania from 1999-2003, and captained the team his senior year. In 2000, he won the Keystone Public Golf Association State Championship. In 2002, he led the Golden Eagles to win the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Title and was chosen as the MVP of PSAC Championship. Peffer was also recognized as a Cleveland Golf/GCAA All-America Scholar and was a three-time all-conference selection. Peffer graduated magna cum laude in 2003 with a degree in finance.
