About Melanie
Melanie Eley joined the William & Mary Tribe Sports Medicine staff in the fall of 2015 as the Athletic Insurance Coordinator. In her role, she manages the athletic insurance program for Tribe student-athletes, serving as a liaison among student-athletes, families, healthcare providers, and insurance carriers to ensure claims are processed efficiently and accurately.

An integral and highly valued member of the Sports Medicine team, she plays a key role in the administration of the department's athletic insurance program. In addition to managing claims, she assists with insurance budget oversight, coordinates insurance clearances for student-athletes, and oversees numerous logistical processes that help ensure efficient access to medical care and support services throughout the year.

She earned her Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) credential from Everest College in 2010. From the beginning of her healthcare career, she has been passionate about delivering quality care to every patient and helping individuals navigate the healthcare process with confidence and compassion.

Before joining William & Mary, she worked as a Certified Medical Assistant with Sentara Orthopedics & Sports Medicine from 2010-2015, where she supported the practices of Dr. Lambert, Dr. Wilhelm, and Physician Assistant Larry Washburn. During her time with Sentara, she also served as the scheduling coordinator for Tribe Football, helping coordinate medical appointments and care for student-athletes.

Melanie is committed to supporting the health, well-being, and overall student-athlete experience at William & Mary. Through collaboration, attention to detail, and a student-centered approach, she strives to ensure that every Tribe student-athlete has access to the resources and support they need to succeed both on and off the field.
