Evan Merrill spent one season on staff as an assistant coach in 2024.
While he is instrumental in all aspects of the program, his primary responsibilities included working with the defense and goalies.
Merrill joined the Tribe after serving as the women’s head coach at North Carolina Wesleyan last year. He was promoted to that position after being an assistant on the Bishops’ staff the previous season.
Merrill began his coaching career with the men’s lacrosse program at Davis & Elkins College where he spent one season as an assistant (2018) and three seasons as the head coach (2019-21).
Prior to joining the coaching ranks, Merrill was a standout defenseman at Virginia Wesleyan University. A four-year starter, he served as a captain during his senior season.
In addition to his success on the field, Merrill was a member of the ODAC All-Academic Team all four years. He also was a member of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and helped organized fundraising events and promoting athletic events.
