Tierra Terry sepnt two seasons as an assistant coach for the Tribe women's basketball team in 2018-19 and 2019-20. Terry spent the previous three seasons as an assistant at Western Carolina.
The 2019-20 season for the Tribe was one for the history books. On the court, the Tribe posted the school record for wins with 21, CAA wins (12), road wins (11), and highest seed in the CAA Tournament (third). With a final RPI of 104, the Tribe was on the verge to earn a postseason berth to, at least, the WNIT for the first time in the program’s history. In all, the Tribe won six more games from the previous season, while also winning five more league contests. For the third straight season, W&M had a player on the league’s first-team as Eva Hodgson developed from the CAA Rookie of the Year to All-CAA First-Team. Senior Victoria Reynolds also earned her first All-CAA award as she was named to the league’s second-team, and freshman Bre Bellamy was tabbed to all-rookie honors.Â
In her first season with the Green and Gold the Tribe won 15 contests, which was the fifth straight season the team had eclipsed that mark. Terry, who worked with both the guards and forwards saw as a pair of guards were honored with All-CAA Awards. Senior Bianca Boggs was named to the league's first-team and all-defensive squad, while freshman Eva Hodgson was named the CAA Rookie of the Year.
Terry was the recruiting coordinator at Western Carolina for the past three seasons. While with the Catamounts, Terry helped usher in a new era under head coach Stephanie McCormick. She helped mentor two WCU players to Southern Conference honors, while coaching the wings, being in charge of recruiting, the academic liaison, and community service organizer.

She began her coaching career at her alma mater, Winston-Salem State for three seasons from 2012-15. With the Rams, she helped the squad to 41 wins and a berth in the second round of the CIAA Tournament during her final season. Terry helped three players to All-CIAA honors during her tenure, while also assisting with skill development and academic support for student-athletes.Â

Prior to getting into the coaching realm, Terry worked for a year as a counselor at Medifast Weight Control Centers in Orlando, Fla. There she provided counseling to members with food addiction, impulsive eating behaviors, and those needing accountability and support through the weight loss process.

Terry also has been very active in her community, including volunteering with Upward Basketball, the YMCA, Latin Flavor Ent, Boys and Girls Club, Women’s Basketball Mentor Program, Joy Prom, and the Annual Cullowhee Valley Festival.

She is a member of Psi Chi, the international honor society in psychology, Alpha Phi Omega National Service Fraternity Incorporated, the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association, and the National Association of Basketball Coaches.

Terry was a four-year member of the Winston-Salem State women’s basketball team, as she earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology, while earning a minor in sociology in 2008. She went on to earn her master’s in psychology with a specialization in counseling from the University of West Florida in 2011.
Formerly Tierra Rudd, Terry married Patrick Terry on Aug. 9, 2019. The couple resides in Richmond, Va.
