Sarah Eichler enters her second season with the Tribe women's basketball program in 2017-18. Eichler joins the Tribe staff after a two-year stint at Hartford, which followed a great playing career at Green Bay.
The Tribe recorded one of its best seasons in school history in 2016-17. W&M tied a school record with 20 wins, while winning a CAA Tournament game for the first time since 2009, and advancing to the CAA Semifinals for the first-time since 2001. The Tribe won 11-straight games, which is the

longest single-season streak in school history, from Nov. 18, 2016-Jan. 2, 2017. Under her guidence post players senior Alexandra Masaquel (Second-Team All-CAA, CAA All-Defensive, CAA All-Academic) and junior Abby Rendle (CAA All-Defensive team) earned all CAA awards. Rendle also went on to break the single-season school record for blocked shots with 101. Masquel rounded out her career by scoring her 1,000th career point, and sits fourth in field goal percentage (.501), sixth in double-doubles (19), seventh in blocked shots (81), 10th in rebounding average (6.6), 11th in rebounds (680).
Eichler spent a pair of seasons as an assistant coach at Hartford. The Hawks posted 27 wins during her tenure and advanced to the America East Championship game in her first season. In just two seasons, Eichler helped guide five Hawk student-athletes to All-America East honors. Aside from on-court coaching, she was in charge of running Hartford’s youth camp and team equipment.
Originally from Grafton, Wis., she played collegiately at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. An All-Horizon League performer, she became 31st player in school history to join the 1,000-point club. She also helped the Phoenix to four consecutive Horizon League titles and four trips to the NCAA Tournament where Green Bay advanced to the Sweet 16 in 2010. Following her career, she inked a professional contract with Stevensgade Club in Copenhagen, Denmark. In one season, she averaged 17.7 points and 5.6 rebounds and helped the club to a second-place finish in the playoffs.
