Shannon Malone

Shannon Malone joined the William & Mary track & field and cross country staff as assistant coach and director of operations in August 2026, bringing collegiate coaching, program operations and professional running experience to Williamsburg.

Malone arrived at William & Mary after spending the 2025-26 season as an assistant cross country and track & field coach and director of operations at Boston College. She worked with the Eagles' men's and women's distance runners while overseeing day-to-day program operations, including team travel, budgets, compliance, equipment, camps and scheduling.

Prior to Boston College, Malone returned to her alma mater, Syracuse, where she worked with the Orange distance runners. During her time on staff, she helped the Syracuse men's cross country team win the 2024 NCAA Northeast Regional championship, while the women's team finished runner-up. Malone also assisted with recruiting and program operations.

Before beginning her collegiate coaching career, Malone competed professionally as a member of the Reebok Boston Track Club from 2019-23.

Malone enjoyed a standout collegiate career at Syracuse, where she was a two-time All-ACC performer in cross country and three-time All-ACC honoree on the track. She was also a two-time USTFCCCA All-Northeast Region selection in cross country.

Her collegiate career was highlighted by winning the individual title at the 2018 NCAA Northeast Regional. Malone went on to compete at the NCAA Cross Country Championships that season, finishing among the top 60 nationally.

A native of Pittsburgh, Pa., Malone graduated from Syracuse in 2018.
