Christina Walker

Christina Walker joined the Tribe staff as an assistant coach in May of 2024. She comes to Williamsburg with a wealth of experience both at the collegiate and international levels.
 
Walker served as the head coach at Virginia Wesleyan University for nine years. During her career, she led the Marlins to a pair of ODAC Tournament appearance. Walker coached 19 All-ODAC selections and three NFHCA National All-Academic Team honorees.
 
In 2015, she led Virginia Wesleyan to the ODAC Tournament for the first time. A season later, the Marlins posted their best ODAC record since 2011, going 4-4 in league play and winning seven games overall. Her team won seven games in 2013, 2016, 2017.
 
Prior to her time at Virginia Wesleyan, Walker served as an assistant coach at Wake Forest for six seasons. She helped guide the Demon Deacons to four NCAA appearances and two national semifinals.
 
Walker served as head coach for Futures site from 2008-12, while holding the position of Site Director of Futures in Winston-Salem from 2009-11. Walker coached the U16 NFC’s in 2010.
 
A face on the national scene, Walker has coached the FDIC camp in 2011 for Elite USA high school players, a camp that’s sanctioned by United States Field Hockey. She also was invited to coach an AAU Junior Olympics team in the summer of 2015. Walker also coached in the USAAI Team's in Australia, England, and Scotland.
 
Walker attended the Coaches Forum in 2012 and 2014 and holds Level 2 Coaching Certification from U.S. Hockey. She became a Futures Certified Coach in 2005.
 
In 2022, Walker was selected to play on the women's USA Masters World Cup Team. She was named Golden Glove recipient as the top goalkeeper in the tournament and the team placed fifth overall in the world.
 
Walker earned her undergraduate degree in public and community health from the University of Maryland where she was the Terrapins’ goalkeeper for four years. She led Maryland to back-to-back national championships in 2005 and 2006 along with an ACC Championship team in 2005. She was named to the NCAA All-Tournament Team in 2006.
                             
Walker holds a Masters of Arts in liberal studies from Wake Forest, graduating in 2011. She currently owns Back of the Net Field Hockey, LLC.
